Is merino also suitable for summer?
You ask, we answer. Well, okay, you don't ask, but we'll tell you anyway. So is merino wool good for summer? Short answer: YES. Long answer: read the article.
Merino wool is a miracle, we already know that. But it's wool nonetheless. Won't it be too warm? Won't it scratch? Is it a good idea to wear it in summer? Yes, and we'll give you at least 3 reasons why:
1. Merino adapts
Merino is a bit like a chameleon. In the best possible sense of the word of course. Over centuries of existence in extremely different conditions, merino sheep have developed a wool that keeps them warm in the cold and protects them well when the heat comes. This makes it a versatile material that will serve us well in both winter and summer. Merino wool is great at adapting to body temperature, so it always does exactly what we need it to do for us. When we're cold, it warms us up, when we're warm, it cools us down. It's called thermoregulation.
2. Merino doesn't stink
Sweat as much as you want in the summer, you won't stink in merino. Do you know why? Because besides being soft, light and cuddly, merino wool has the great property of being breathable and wicking moisture away from the body. Thanks to this, it doesn't provide a breeding ground for the bacteria that cause those not-so-pleasant summer odours. So yes, merino wool is also antibacterial. Goodbye frequent laundry, goodbye musty t-shirts, goodbye armpit maps, goodbye sweaty baby backs on hot summer nights. Hello merino, hello comfort.
3. Merino protects against UV rays
Like linen, this natural material has the amazing ability to protect our skin from harmful UV rays. Compared to synthetic fibers, merino is much better off and its protection can be compared to SPF 50 in sunscreens. This is thanks to the density and "curliness" of the sheep's wool fibres. Some mums even like to dress their kids in merino shirts for the beach. And why not?

If you haven't succumbed to the charms of merino wool yet, that's okay. Now you can and to the fullest. Both in winter and summer. Merino is there for you and your little ones all year round.
And so are we, Vacice.
Have a wonderful summer.
