Merino care

Blog
22.01.2025

Do you want your merino clothes to last for years and retain their softness and functionality? Then proper care is a must. We've put together a handy guide to help you know everything you need to know about caring for merino.

Before first use, our products generally do not need to be washed.

- Wash things in the washing machine

- wool programme

- max. 30°C

- low washing time and speed 600-800

- natural washing gel for merino

WARNING! what not to do...

- do not iron

- do not wring

- do not use fabric softener, vinegar

- do not dry in the dryer, on the radiator

- do not use bleach

- do not wash with zippers, hooks,...

To keep these properties as long as possible, take care of the merino properly:

- Do not wash it often, but rather ventilate it regularly.

-Remove stains topically with stain soap.

- Wash on the "wool" programme on 30°C, reduce the speed to 600-800. Or on a short cycle for a delicate wash.

- Use a natural wool detergent with lanolin (Tierra verde). Ordinary detergent will cause deterioration and shrinkage of merino clothing. Do not use bleach, vinegar, fabric softener.

- Hand wash in cold or lukewarm water up to 30°C.

- After washing, squeeze out excess water by placing between 2 towels and rolling up.

- Dry unfolded horizontally. Do not dry on a radiator or in direct sunlight.

- Do not iron, ironing can easily ruin it!

- When handling merino, avoid e.g. hooks, jewellery, buttons, zippers and other objects that can mechanically damage its fibres.

- The formation of wool wrinkles is natural, with proper care it can be mitigated. Already formed pilling is easily removed with a lint remover. Wrinkling does not affect the functionality of the material and is not a cause for complaint.

- Unbleached organic cotton contains tiny bits of pigment from the plant itself that look like black dots. This natural colouring washes out of the fabric over time.

- Store merino clothing in a dry and dark place. Beware of moths, which like it very much. Use lavender sachets.

- The materials we use are safe from local and EU production.
