New winter sleeping bags: What’s new and which one to choose?

You’ve been asking us for a long-sleeve sleeping bag almost from the very beginning. We heard the question “When will you have ones with sleeves?” for years. But it wasn’t as simple as just sewing sleeves onto a bag—sleeves change how the bag fits and how it retains warmth. We had to break it down completely and start from scratch.

And while we were at it, we wanted our winter bags to be even softer and gentler to the touch, while still keeping your little ones just as warm as they should. It took time, but they are finally here!

Read on to find out what’s new, what stayed the same, why we made these changes, which bag to choose, and how to pick the right size.

✨ What’s new?

  • lavalan® padding: Natural wool padding made from pure sheep's wool and corn-based PLA fibers. Soft, lightweight, and warm.
  • Long sleeves on the extra winter bag: You can choose between a sleeveless winter bag (TOG 3.0) and an extra winter bag (TOG 3.5). The extra winter version now features long sleeves made of 100% merino wool.
  • ABS – Anti Brrr System: An extra layer of lavalan® sewn into the lining on the back. More on this below.
  • New sizes: Winter sleeping bags have their own specific size chart.

💚 What stayed the same?

  • Merino on the inside: 100% merino wool lining. Soft, non-scratchy, breathable, and helps maintain a stable body temperature.
  • Self-caring merino: Naturally antibacterial and hypoallergenic, ideal for babies with eczema. Odor-resistant—simply air it out instead of frequent washing.
  • Organic cotton on the outside.
  • Foot openings and a comfortable fit: Designed for free movement and easy rolling over during sleep.
  • The same cozy warmth: Both the winter bag (TOG 3.0) and extra winter bag (TOG 3.5) warm just like you’re used to—from an overheated apartment to a cold mountain cabin.
  • Local production: Made locally in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

Why did we make these changes?

The original padding we used for years became unavailable. We needed a reliable, long-term replacement—and found lavalan®. We are proud to be the first and only brand in Slovakia using it in children's sleeping bags.

Thanks to lavalan®, a single layer of padding now achieves what previously required two layers. The bag is lighter and softer, yet delivers the exact same warmth.

🌿 Key benefits of lavalan® padding:

  • warms even when damp,
  • absorbs moisture up to 36% of its own weight without feeling wet,
  • highly breathable, preventing your baby from overheating,
  • made from certified European wool (mulesing-free) and renewable resources,
  • serves as a natural alternative to synthetic insulation and down.

Both lavalan® and merino wool are wool-based, making them the perfect team. Wool fibers pull moisture away from sweat, keeping your baby’s skin dry. At the same time, they trap warm air when it’s cold and release excess heat when it gets warm—ensuring your baby stays cozy without catching a chill or overheating.

🛡️ What is the ABS (Anti Brrr System)?

Anti Brrr System is our own feature: an extra layer of lavalan® sewn into the back lining. You can’t see it from the outside, but your baby’s back will definitely feel the difference. When a baby lies on their back, the padding compresses, reducing its insulation. The ABS balances this compression, keeping their back warm even in a chilly room.

Which bag should you choose?

Base your choice on the room thermometer, not the calendar.

Room Temperature Recommended Bag TOG Rating
20 – 24 °C All-year (Thicker) TOG 2.5
18 – 22 °C Sleeveless Winter TOG 3.0
16 – 19 °C Extra Winter with Sleeves TOG 3.5
💡 Wondering if your baby is comfortable? Check the back of their neck. Warm and dry means they are doing just fine. Cold hands aren’t an accurate indicator of body temperature.

Pay attention to sizes!

Winter sleeping bags have a different size chart than our all-year models. Don't choose solely based on your current all-year bag size—check age and length recommendations instead.

Size Age Total Length Sleeve Length
S 0 – 2 yrs 83 – 84 cm 24 cm
M 1 – 3 yrs 98 cm 31 cm
L 2.5 – 5 yrs 116 cm 39 cm
XL 4.5 – 7.5 yrs 137 cm 52 cm

👉 If you are between two sizes, we recommend choosing the larger one.
