Our Materials

At the beginning of the Vacice brand was the desire to make sleep more pleasant for our children. We wanted to give them something nice, unique and most importantly functional. We try to translate this desire into our products and the materials we use to make them.

At the beginning of the Vacice brand was the desire to make sleep more pleasant for our children. We wanted to give them something nice, unique and most importantly functional. We try to translate this desire into our products and the materials we use to make them.

The materials you will find in our sleeping bags and accessories:

Merino wool

We use 100% merino wool as the inner layer of our sleeping bags. It's a true superfiber! What we appreciate most is its ability to regulate body temperature and the fact that it cools or warms as needed. Even when it's sweaty.

The Merino sheep is considered to be one of the oldest sheep species ever. It is known for its fine and soft wool, which allows it to survive in extreme conditions. Its wool is comfortable and can be worn as a first layer. It's a natural material that is 100% degradable in soil or water (yay, no more microplastics!).

And imagine that on top of all this, merino wool is also hypoallergenic, naturally antibacterial and low-maintenance: there's no need to wash it often, just ventilate it regularly and store it in a dry environment. Cool, right?

In the new sleeping bags (year-round and winter) we use only "ethical" merino wool anymore.

What does "ethical" mean?

Merino knitwear is made from yarns that have received certification from Naturtextil IVN Best. This certification represents the highest level of sustainability in textiles. Such a material guarantees you that both the product (yarn) and the production process are as sustainable and fair as possible. For both humans and animals.

Sheep breeding and wool sourcing are carried out in accordance with organic animal husbandry principles (certified organic husbandry).

Certified organic cotton:

As the outer layer of our sleeping bags, we most often use certified organic cotton. Conventional cotton farming is very demanding on the use of insecticides and herbicides and also permanently damages the soil, water as well as the local farming communities. Our materials have undergone a comprehensive certification that takes into account environmental/ecological criteria for the entire growing process from seed selection, soil impacts, product treatment and also social criteria such as fair trade trading etc.

Cotton grown in this way is of course more expensive than conventional cotton. However, this is only because the price of conventional cultivation does not take into account the damage it causes to nature and local communities.

The winter bag has an outer material of 20% hemp, 30% bamboo, 50% bio-cotton. This material is 100% natural, undyed, slightly elastic and wonderfully comfortable.

Bamboo is a sustainable natural material. It has a very fine and soft fibre that is naturally antibacterial. Its thermoregulating properties allow it to keep you cool in summer and warm in winter.

Textiles made from hemp are extremely durable and also 100% natural. Its cultivation does not require the use of chemical products. In addition, it is naturally resistant to microbes and mould and has extremely good insulating properties, which work synergistically with bamboo and cotton in this blend.
